Last night we checked out this great little Vietnamese restaurant. It was a Monday, so there were lots of places closed but Misschu was open and fairly busy. We were greeted on entry and taken to a small table for 2 next to the bar. Although this particular table had high stools for the seats, there are convenient hooks just below the table for jackets, bags etc. To order both food and drinks at Misschu, there are tuckshop style menus where you tick off what you would like and then hand it to the serving person who comes to your table.
We ordered a couple of glasses of wine, prawn and scallop steamed dumplings, a pork bun and a duck pancake to share. The Mister chose a chicken curry with noodles for main and I had the Vietnamese spring rolls with crab and prawn. Although the place was pretty busy, service was prompt and friendly. All of the food we had was fresh, authenic and delicious, I would even go as far as saying the best I have had outside of Vietnam. The stand outs for both of us were definately the steamed dumplings, followed closely by the spring rolls. I should note that Vietnamese spring rolls are different to Chinese spring rolls in that they are wrapped in rice vermicelli pastry and as an added bonus these ones are Gluten Free.
We finished off our meals with another glass of wine each and were impressed when the bill came to just over $60! Misschu is currently open in South Yarra and Melbourne CBD and various locations in Sydney. These locations offer a variety of dining options including eat in, take away - both delivery and pick up, and catering.
There are also plans to open in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in 2014 so although that is a little while away, do yourself a favour and keep your eyes peeled for the opening of this delicious restaurant in your city!
